Hi,
I am contacting you regarding the announced shutdown of the 3G network on March 1, 2027, and the significant impact this will have on the wireless home phone service that I have been using with satisfaction for approximately 10 years.
The current device, the ZTE WF721, will no longer be compatible once the 3G/HSPA network is retired. According to information published by TELUS/Bell, devices will need to support 4G LTE with VoLTE or 5G in order to continue functioning.
I need a simple and reliable replacement solution for a person in my immediate family who has motor skill and vision impairments. This person uses an older button-style telephone with a few important numbers already stored in memory. Using a modern touchscreen smartphone is not suitable for their condition.
Residential telephone service remains essential for many elderly, vulnerable, or physically limited individuals. It provides:
* much simpler operation than a smartphone;
* a stable device that always remains in the same place in the home;
* additional security in case of loss, failure, or problems with a cellular phone;
* quick access to family members and emergency services.
I would therefore like to know which 4G LTE/VoLTE or 5G compatible device will officially replace the ZTE WF721 for Koodo/TELUS wireless home phone service.
I also ask that an accessible and affordable solution continue to be offered for customers who still depend on residential telephone service for safety, accessibility, and ease-of-use reasons.
Please provide:
1. the recommended replacement model for the WF721;
2. confirmation that it will continue to function after March 1, 2027;
3. the available options for keeping a traditional button-style home telephone;
4. the costs and migration details.
Thank you for your assistance.
